LSU Healthcare Network

Innovative Web based QA applications and outsourced vascular screening

BATON ROUGE, La. (February 15, 2008) - Surgisys, LLC. a provider of Web-based QA applications and accreditation services, in conjunction with its sister company, Vascular Associates Labs (VAL) announced the partnership with the LSU Healthcare Network to provide turnkey vascular screening and patient tracking services. VAL technicians perform ultrasound studies on patients and then input patient data into the Surgisys database. LSU Healthcare Network physicians are able to view the results, perform their interpretation and digitally sign the patient study. Images and procedure information are archived on the Surgisys Web portal for remote interpretation and allow secure access for the physicians and sonographers 24/7.

David Barry, Clinical Applications Manager for Surgisys and a sonographer of 18 years comments on the value of a data base with aggregated patient studies and reporting "Surgisys is an excellent tool that I use to track many different lab functions.  Some of these include the number of exams each tech performs, correlations of each tech with other studies, number of studies each physician dictates on and referral patterns. Surgisys makes my life easier."

VAL, an ICAVL accredited lab outsources its sonographers in a mobile environment and includes the Surgisys Web based QA applications as part of the whole turnkey package. Dr. Hernan Bazan of the LSU Healthcare Network indicates "LSU Healthcare Network has utilized the Surgisys web application to provide immediate physician interpretation and final reporting.  This is a valuable quality assurance and practice management tool."

Dr. Albert Sam II MD, MS, FACS Chief Medical Officer for Surgisys explains the value of utilizing a program offered by Surgisys, "By moving your practice to a digital environment, you obtain tools that in the end help deliver better patient outcomes which is the reason Surgisys was started."
